Volthium, based in Quebec, is dedicated to making lithium-ion batteries mainstream for various applications, including larger off-grid systems. They offer a range of battery group sizes compatible with lead-acid replacements and modular rackmount systems customizable for any project. Part of their Rack Mount series, the Volthium 25.6-200-R and 25.6-200-R-H feature 24 Volt 200 Ah (5.12 kWh of stored energy) and can be mounted in a standard 19″ rack, available with or without a built-in heater. These batteries allow for safe use and charging down to -30C (-22F) and can be stacked in parallel for increased capacity. With integrated VE.Can bus and RS-485 connectivity, they seamlessly communicate with Victron GX equipment. Volthium lithium-ion batteries are true deep-cycle batteries with a built-in battery management system for optimal performance and safety. They use LiFePO4 chemistry, ensuring stability and safety without off-gassing, making them suitable for indoor mounting in any orientation.
Here are the recommended charge settings for Volthium batteries:
Bulk/absorb: 28.0 – 29.0 Volt, with 28.0 Volt being ideal
Absorb time: Approximately two hours, but not critical
Float: Not required, set to 27.2 Volt or lower
No equalize, or set to 28.0 Volt if it cannot be disabled
No temperature compensation, set to 0
Preferably charge at a rate of 100 Amp or less for longevity, but up to 150 Amp is possible
Charging operates from 0°C (for unheated batteries) or -30°C (-22°F for heated batteries), while discharge functions effectively up to -20°C (-4°F).
